Discrimination Discrimination can take a number of forms, including: Infringement of rights Abuse Bullying It can have serious effects on an individual, such as: Can you think of a recent story in the media about discrimination in a health and social care environment? Unemployment Loss of rights Low self-confidence

  4. National initiatives Since the 1970s a range of national initiatives have been put in place to promote anti-discrimination practices. Such as…. These initiatives are constantly evolving. What changes do you think we will see over the next decade? Quality assurance Codes of practice and charters How might modern technology and social networks affect anti-discriminatory practice? Policies and procedures Legislation and regulations

  5. How can these be implemented? There are a number of ways to promote anti-discriminatory practice in health and social care environments, for example: Quality assurance Promoting values of care Mentoring Workplace policies and procedures Staff training
