  2. Preventing Sewer Flooding In Homes and Businesses So, what causes the flooding problems? Solid materials flowing down sewer lines causes blockages – especially when getting stuck in root balls Hot fats and oils dumped in sewer line solidify and combine with other solid materials in the sewer water to form balls and create blockages Damage to downstream pipelines – for instance pipe damaged by construction equipment blocks pipe flow Debris swept along with storm water causes blockages in storm water pipelines Blokker Backwater Valve InformationSlide 2

  3. Main Sewer Line Blockage Residential Example Obstructions in main sewer line causing sewer water to back up into homes of higher elevation Blokker Provides protection Blokker Valve Sewer Lines Normal Flow Backwater Flow Obstruction Sewer Backup Blokker Backwater Valve InformationSlide 3

  4. Main Sewer Line Blockage Strip Mall / Condo Style Commercial Example Obstructions in main sewer line causing sewer water to back up into commercial units of higher elevation that have no backwater valve. Blokker Valve Sewer Lines Normal Flow Backwater Flow Obstruction Sewer Backup Blokker Backwater Valve InformationSlide 4

  5. How the Blokker Valve Came To Exist SecureLeak Inc. developed, designed, patented, certified and manufacture the Alarmed Blokker Backwater Valve on request of INTAC (previously ING) Insurance Company: Existing backwater valves were/are not reliable Leaking under pressure only keeping back solids Regular Service requirement by Licensed Plumber No pressure wave protection to prevent valve failure and flooding Do not comply with Canada Plumbing Codes regarding sewer line venting Residential sewer flooding causing Billions of Dollars in damage INTAC required reliable protection and early warning for the home owner INTAC required a valve with no regular service requirements INTAC required a product that would minimize their financial liability Blokker Backwater Valve InformationSlide 5

  6. How the Blokker Valve Came To Exist The Blokker Backwater Valve design parameters were as follows: Venting of downstream pipelines Providing sewer line venting as per Canada Plumbing Code requirements Releasing of pressure waves / surges through vent Easy installation, straight retrofit, inside or outside building Alarm warning/monitoring with high sewer line water level Second alarm warning/monitoring when Blokker Valve closes No regular inspection / service requirements between backups Special embedded seal to eliminate leaking at all pressures No obstructions / transitions in flow path through Blokker Valve Alarm warning for clogged mechanisms after backup situation Blokker Backwater Valve InformationSlide 6

  7. How the Blokker Valve Came To Exist The result after many hours of hard work and many Dollars: The Blokker Back Water Valve! CSA Certified, Patents Pending Canada & USA Blokker Backwater Valve InformationSlide 7

  15. Blokker Valve Options Available Quick Install Vent closes vent during installation When installing venting the valve during valve installation Quick install vent is removed and venting installed at opportune time during construction Blokker Backwater Valve InformationSlide 15

  16. Blokker Valve Options Available Extension Cables Extension cable – 5 meter and 10 meter available Connects Blokker direct into Home Alarm Control Unit Connects Blokker to Wireless Radio Signal Units Blokker Backwater Valve InformationSlide 16

  17. Blokker Valve Options Available Siren Kit Option Siren Option activates Water Level Siren when sewer pipe runs full Siren Option de-activates Water Level Siren when water level OK Siren Option activates Valve Close Siren when Blokker valve closes Siren Option de-activates Valve Close Siren when valve opens Blokker wiring connects directly into Siren box 12VDC Adapter powers both sirens. Optional Battery pack powers sirens during power failures. Ultra low cost siren solution. Blokker Backwater Valve InformationSlide 17

  18. Blokker Valve Options Available Wireless Sensors Option Pack Sending alarm signal from Blokker to Home Alarm Control Unit Connects directly to Blokker or connects to Extension wire One unit for sewer line high water alarm One unit for Blokker valve closing sewer line flow Blokker Backwater Valve InformationSlide 18

  19. Blokker Valve Options Available GSM Home Alarm System GSM alarm Home Alarm Control System SMS / Call in event water levels are high in Sewer Line SMS / Call in event Blokker valve closes Sewer Line flow Blokker Backwater Valve InformationSlide 19

  20. Blokker Options Available Main water supply valve close when Blokker valve closes. Installs as an addition to the GSM Alarm System Main water supply valve re-opened with override crank. Blokker Backwater Valve InformationSlide 20

  21. Blokker Valve Special Feature # 1 Valve closes from the top – not an obstruction in flow path Flap out of the way during flow conditions up to 90% full Blokker Backwater Valve InformationSlide 21

  22. Blokker Valve Special Feature # 2 No servicing between backups required Mechanism protected from debris going down pipeline No parts of valve in water flow path Blokker Backwater Valve InfomationSlide 22

  23. Blokker Valve Special Feature # 3 Servicing only required if “Valve Alarm” remains on after sewer line “Blockage” is cleared. Rinse valve mechanism through inspection opening Blokker Backwater Valve InformationSlide 23

  24. Blokker Valve Special Feature # 4 Straight retrofit – no leveling adjustments required No need for any pipe line level adjustments Blokker Backwater Valve InformationSlide 24
