Depending upon the type of cancer the person is suffering from and the stage of cancer the treatment is provided. In some cases, this treatment is used solely while in others it may be used in combination with other treatment options like radiation therapy and the surgery.

  4. This therapy can also be used for destroying cancer cells that may remain after treatment with surgery or radiation therapy. This is called adjuvant chemotherapy. It also helps to kill cancer cells that have returned or spread to other parts of your body after surgery or radiation therapy.

  10. Intraperitonea l (IP) This chemotherapy method is used to treat abdominal or gastrointestinal region cancers. Through this technique, the drug goes directly into the peritoneal cavity, which is the area of your body that contains organs such as your intestines, stomach, and liver.

  11. Intra-arterial (IA) This technique is used to deliver the drugs of this therapy directly to a tumor while reducing exposure to healthy tissues.
