  1. Ephesians 4:22-24 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

  2. Renew your mind daily by: • Keeping worldly trash out of your mind • By filling your mind with God’s Word. • By spending time in prayer and worship. • By spending time with other believers. • All of these will help you renew your mind.

  3. Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.”

  4. Ephesians 4:25-28 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. "In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need.

  5. Ephesians 4:29-32 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.

  19. Obey these things: • We are to put off: lying, misguided anger, stealing, unwholesome talk, bitterness, rage, anger, brawling, slander and malice. • We are to put on: truthfulness, honest labor, wholesome talk, kindness, compassion and forgiveness.
