    2. High Altitude Overview 40 million people live at or above 10,000 feet. Permanent settlements found as high as 17,000 feet. Early studies of high altitude effects happened in the late 1700’s.

    7. Recommendations for Employeers When starting work at altitude, allow workers and employees to adjust Adjust in increments or steps. ex) If you have a job in Santa Fe, NM(el. 7500 ft), you should let workers adjust in Albequerque, NM(el. 5000 ft) for a couple days.

    8. OSHA Regulation If oxygen content in air at altitude is less than 19.5%, respiratory devices shall be provided. Respiratory Protection Standard, 29 CFR 1910.134
