Praying for the NATIONAL picture N 1 Timothy: 1-2 • Pray for: • wisdom and insight for the government and specialist advisers working on NHS reform • poor, elderly and vulnerable patients to be prioritised in new policies • compassion for doctors, especially GPs, and realism about what they can be responsible for • respect and understanding between government and health professionals © May 2011 www.thesanctuarycentre.org/whereworldandworshipmeet

H Praying for a blessing on HEALTH James 5:14 Leviticus 19:32 • Pray for: • people you know who are unwell, and ask for God to bless them with health • everyone in the UK currently in hospital, on a waiting list, or waiting for test • results • elderly patients especially, following May 2011’s report from an independent body of three hospitals not providing enough food, water, or dignity to elderly patients • the 1 million people a year being admitted for alcohol-related illnesses • (excluding A&E) © May 2011 www.thesanctuarycentre.org/whereworldandworshipmeet

Praying for those who provide the SERVICE • Pray for: • all health professionals in the NHS, particularly those experiencing stress or trauma • encouragement, appreciation and rest for all who are working so hard for the health of others • Christian doctors, nurses and carers, particularly those facing difficult decisions • organisations such as the Christian Medical Fellowship who support Christian medics, and work on apologetics issues S Psalm 139:13-16 Matthew 25:35-36 1 Peter 5:2 © May 2011 www.thesanctuarycentre.org/whereworldandworshipmeet

  5. Prayer of thanksgiving, and blessing for the NHS Creator God, Who knits each person together in their mother’s womb It is you who reveals knowledge to scientists and doctors. We thank you for the heritage of medical breakthrough, expertise and welfare we enjoy in our nation, Freely available to us because of your revelation, and the faithfulness of previous generations. Renew thanksgiving in our hearts for what we have received because of others’ work and sacrifice. Healer of nations, You provide insight to all who seek you, And defend those in need. We thank you for the gift of health services in our nation, Freely available to everyone no matter their background, income level or need. Give your wisdom to our government, health professionals, and advisers as they seek the right reforms. We bless our health service to thrive, to prosper, and to heal. We bless our doctors and nurses to care, to excel, and to bring healing. We bless our nation to understand, to thank, and to honour those who seek to bring us health.
