  5. 19 Kordia Solutions Australia • Acquired the business in 2005 - A$65m sales • 85% revenue from one customer – RISK! • Very strong technical capability & customer focus - “Sure We Can” • Very weak financial systems What we did • Diversified customer base • Refined systems and processes • Continue to invest in training in latest technology • Operate as subsidiary, enable the Australian management team to succeed growing “their” business Results • Sales this year – A$100m • Leader in key market segments • Gives Kordia exposure to vibrant Australian economy

  7. 19 Kordia Solutions Thailand • Established in 2006 with local partner • Objective was to provide design and build services to 3G network vendors and operators • Also Thailand good base to work in other S.E. Asian countries • Saw opportunity to bring Thai staff to NZ and Australia for work peaks • Issues • Delays in release of 3G spectrum by Thai Government • work volumes below expectations • business too many years below critical mass

  8. 19 Kordia Solutions Thailand • Lessons Learned • Starting engineering & field services business from zero • seductively low initial year costs • costly over time to get business to critical mass • If serious about establishing, best to fund acquiring a local business • already in market • add new services • refine processes

Next Wave • Solutions Services • Grow Australian business • Project-by-project activity elsewhere, e.g. DTT consultancy & design in Malaysia – with local partner • Network Services • Deals with telco network operators. For example: • voice services into NZ • global wide area networks • cloud services • Enabling NZ businesses offshore through ICT • Enabling offshore business to connect into NZ operations
