  1. Mysteries of Life By: Shannon Kennedy

  2. Easter Island An island in the Pacific Ocean that has great stone statues. The statues are called moai, and the bases are calledahu. Once the moai stood great but fighting among the natives brought them down and by now they are all toppled.

  3. Easter Island Easter Island was named when it was “discovered” by Jacob Roggeveen, a European visitor on Easter. Now people have set up a natural park of Easter Island so we can respect that. Respecting that will help Easter Island stay up for a few thousand more years and that is a very good thing.

  4. Stonehenge A monolithic stone circle in Salisbury, England. It has been standing for around 4,000 years, but is fading. People sometimes get too close to the stones and touch them so the rocks are getting worn. Also, underground movement is hurting the great stones, they are becoming unstable and they could topple if it keeps going.

  5. Stonehenge We can stop Stonehenge from ruining more if we stop using the road near it. Also we can stop going so close to the stones so we can preserve it as long as we can. Stonehenge has been standing for 4,000 years, it shouldn’t fall now!!!

  6. WHY? It’s not like we have things like Stonehenge and Easter Island just lying around. Once these places are gone, destroyed completely or in ruins, we won’t be able to get them back! Sure, we could build fake ones but they wouldn’t be the same.

  7. WHY? Do you want to be the generation that got rid of these mysterious places? Do you want to be known as that generation? We have to save these places, not just because we want to, because it’s the right thing to do!

  8. WHY? Tell your friends about this, tell everybody, get them to help! We could be the generation that saves Stonehenge and Easter Island or the one that destroys it. It’s up to us, because these wonderful, mysterious places might not last long enough to get saved by the next generation.

  9. Different Ideas About the Use of Stonehenge • Some people say Stonehenge was used for sacrificial purposes • Others think it was used as a burial ground • Still others thought that if it was a burial ground, it was only for important people, like tribal leaders

  10. Different Ideas About the Use of Stonehenge • Also, people think it is an astronomical device • Stonehenge could also be used for ceremonies (honor people, worship gods they might have had) • People also think the Druids made Stonehenge

  11. Different Ideas About How Stonehenge Was Made • People don’t know how exactly Stonehenge was made, but they have a lot of ideas • Magic Merlin was said to build Stonehenge with magic • Or, it was a Roman temple • It could also be a Druid holy temple
