  1. Project Outreach & Community Caring 2014-2015 “It’s better to give than to receive,” and at Tootin’ Hills School, the large and small ways we demonstrate character & caring for others beyond our school campus is coordinated by the school’s “POCC” Committee. With the continued support of PTO faculty and families, POCC supports our long-standing programs (e.g. making 4,000 sandwiches each year for a Hartford shelter) and will continue to strengthen new relationships with the Simsbury Food Pantry and Simsbury’s “A Better Chance” (ABC) students, to name a couple. And in it’s 2nd year, the Take Action Club will engage and empower students to work together as local and global citizens with support from our educational partner: Free the Children. www.freethechildren.com. As chosen by the students, the TAC will continue to advocate for a global community in Ecuador where child labor practices are common and access to education is limited. All of these efforts have been designed to spread awareness and to encourage students to take actions locally and globally in their daily lives. On Friday, March 27, 2015, TAC students will again host a “WE DAY” for the school community to spread awareness, raise funds, and to demonstrate the power of youth when “We” come together to make the world a better place.
