  29. A 7th grader is here today to share with us how his family celebrates the Jewish holiday of Hannukuh.

  30. A Unit II student brought a dreidel that his family uses to celebrate Hannukuh! The 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade choir will now present The Dreidel Song!

  37. The December Student Council decided to give a Gift of Love to Sheri and Micky, the lunch ladies, for our project.

  38. December is a very busy month at Price Laboratory School. So we decided to help out by washing the tables after lunch.

  39. We took turns washing the tables.

  40. We wore these hats to get into the holiday spirit.

  41. Gifts of love do not cost a penny. They don’t have to be wrapped in fancy paper. You can give them any day of the year.

  42. We hope you all will give many gifts of love to your families and friends during the winter break.

  46. First Amendment Rights in Our Country • Your host is not Howie Mandel… It is Mrs. Miller!

  47. First Amendment Rights in Our CountryPlay Deal or No Deal. Instead of playing for one million dollars, play for our First Amendment Rights. There are six boxes. Five of the boxes hold the following words: No Freedom of Speech: police arrest you for stating your beliefs No Freedom of Religion: one church for everyone to go to No Freedom of Press: newspapers can no longer print everything that happens No Freedom of Assembly: can no longer get together in groups with people that believe the same way you do No Freedom to Petition: cannot collect signatures of people to protest something you feel strongly aboutOne of the boxes will hold the words First Amendment Rights.Put each of these behind the six boxes. Have a teacher selected that knows which number to select for First Amendment Rights (ok, it’s rigged!). After the teacher selects the lucky box, the host will have them choose another number. The host explains a little about the answer behind the box. As some of the boxes are unveiled, the Host calls on the phone (I had a phone to use and a clear plastic box with a bell inside - just like the tv show) and starts to make offers like: Ok, I’ll give you just the Freedom of Religion. You can go to church wherever you want to. Ok, I’ll give you your Freedom of Religion and your Freedom to Petition. You can go around and collect all the signatures you want from people that have the same opinion as you. Ok, I’ll give you your Freedom of Religion, your Freedom to Petition, and your Freedom to Assembly. You can still come to Citizenship Assemblies. Ok, I’ll give you your Freedom of Religion, your Freedom to Petition, and your Freedom to Assemble, and your Freedom of the Press. You can print what happens in the paper. The contestant holds out until the end. She/he says that their First Amendment Rights are too important, and they won’t settle for anything less. They don’t want their Rights forgotten or diminished. Freedom isn’t Free and it’s worth fighting for. She/he will not make any Deals.In the end, she/he wins the First Amendment Rights.

  49. November Citizens of the Month CITIZENS of the MONTH If our students are following the rules in the lunchroom, their names are put into a drawing for Citizens of the Month. Two students are drawn at each monthly assembly, and they get to eat lunch at HyVee (grocery store). They also get to choose a teacher to go with them.h
