  1. Essay Outline (4) • Pro athletes are paid fair salaries. • Team owners make millions more than the athletes that work for them. • Fans are willing to pay high ticket prices to see their favorite teams in action. • Players have a limited amount of time in their sport.

  2. Paragraph One (Intro) • Professional athletes are paid a fair wage for their services. Their employers make millions more than the athletes. Sports fans are willing to pay the exorbitant ticket prices to watch their favorite players in action. Players have relatively short careers and could suffer a serious injury that takes them out of the sport.

  3. Paragraph Two (Body) • Team owners make millions of dollars more than the star athletes they pay. Owners are willing to pay such high salaries because their employees have a special talent that brings in the fans. If the owners weren’t making a huge profit, they couldn’t afford to spend so much money.

  4. Paragraph Three (Body) • Sports fans are willing to fork over the big bucks for tickets to games. Fans choose to attend sporting events to watch their favorite athletes perform in games. They are willing to buy high-priced tickets, pay for parking, and spend additional funds on food and drinks. The stars attract the fans to the games.

  5. Paragraph Four (Body) • Athletes skills decline over the years, and injuries may force them into early retirement. Star players attempt to make as much money as they can while their skills last. They never know when a career-ending injury might strike. Some star players just lose the knack for pitching or hitting and have to drop out of the game.

  6. Paragraph Five (Conclusion) • Although star athletes make lots of money, they are paid fair wages for their abilities. Owners pay their stars huge salaries because the owners make even more money. Fans choose to pay high ticket prices to watch their favorite players. Players can’t predict how long they’ll be able to play the game. Maybe players who do make incredible wages will feel like they should give some back to improving their community.
