  1. 2009 Weight Control Club Together, We Can… Move to Improve Our Health

  2. Concept • The average American adult gains 1 – 2 pounds every year • Most Americans state they would like to lose weight • If Henry Ford employees gained no weight in 2009, as a company, we would weigh 10 tons less at the end of the year (22,000 X 1) • Conversely, if we do ‘nothing’, HFHS will weigh at least 10 tons more by December 31, 2009! • People are far more successful when: • You publicly state your goals AND • You have a social support group • We spend 8+ hours, 5 days a week with our colleagues who share our same desire to be healthier…

  3. HR - Let’s Move to Improve in 09! • Create a “No Gain” weight control club in your department • Two goals: 1st goal - don’t gain any weight in 2009 2nd goal – privately document your goal weight for the end of 2009 (which will remain confidential) • Each month, chart your progress for the two goals on a chart: 1st goal - chart success of no weight gain 2nd goal - document progress toward goal weight (amount to remain private)

  4. Getting Started • Post the 2009 No Gain Tracking Form and the Personal Weight Tracking Form on your department’s shared site. • Invite co-workers in your department to: • Sign up on the 2009 No Gain Tracking form • Post a “Smile” or “Frown” to indicate success/disappointment in meeting goal weight each month (No weight amounts will be discussed, only month to month 'joy' or 'disappointment‘) • Save the Personal Weight Tracking form to their home drive for personal tracking of their weight goal. • Identify a "wellness buddy", to share accountability for tracking, eating and exercise habits • Notify the Move to Improve team of your department’s involvement by sending an email to MoveToImprove@hfhs.org. This way we can support your efforts with various resources.
