  1. Counselor News Wortham ISD Scholarships • laurie.simmons@worthamisd.org • This presentation will contain all the current scholarship information that I have available at this time. New slides will be added as new information becomes available ; so please check back frequently. You will find most of the forms for these scholarships located nearby, or you may download forms from the counselor’s page on the district website.

Counselor News Wortham ISD 2014 Scholarships Parkview Regional Hospital Foundation Scholarship program: • Applicant must have an interest to complete their education or extend their education in a healthcare related field. Applicant must have a High School diploma, GED or is graduating from High School in the spring of the year requesting assistance. • Applicant must live within the school districts of Mexia, Groesbeck, Wortham, Teague, Coolidge, or Navarro College-South. • Three letters of recommendation must be submitted with the application. • (Relatives excluded) • 1 – Healthcare related or sponsored • 1 – Representing your community involvement and activities • 1 - Social/Character representing your desire to complete your education • Selection criteria will include assistance necessity, leadership qualities, personal recommendations and community involvement. All information will be held confidential. • The Scholarship can be used for tuition, books, and/or fees assessed by the school. Funds will be paid upon receipt of a statement and/or receipts from the applicant. • The Scholarship will be used for the purpose of study in the healthcare field to benefit local programs and healthcare agencies. The application should express an interest toward returning to work with the region upon completing their education. • Attach a copy of your most recent education transcript and SAT or ACT scores. • Application must be received by April 1st. • Applications should be sent to: Parkview Regional Hospital Foundation • ATTN: Scholarship Selection Committee • P.O. Counselor News Wortham ISD 2014 Scholarships AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Department of Texas Scholarship The AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Department of Texas Scholarship application is available in my office.  Eligibility requirements: • Student does not need to be related to a veteran to apply • Student must be a senior in High School • Student will have 2 years from date of notification to enroll at an accredited College, University or Trade School in Texas • Proof of enrollment must be forwarded to the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Department of Texas Executive Secretary The following point system will be used as criteria: • Need – 40% • Aim – 20% • Scholastics – 40%

  5. Counselor News Wortham ISD 2014 Scholarships Farm Mutual Protective Association Scholarship • Farm Mutual Protective Association is awarding a $650 scholarship to a Wortham High School senior. I have attached the scholarship application or you may pick up a hard copy in my office. You can return your application to me or mail it to the address listed at the bottom of the application before April 15, 2014.   7. Counselor News Wortham ISD 2014 Scholarships Wortham Garden Club Scholarship and the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Scholarship updates, please do not mail, instead give application to WISD Counselor by Monday, March 3rd.

  8. Counselor News Wortham ISD 2014 Scholarships Longbotham Lodge will award 4 scholarships, in the amount of $500 each, to Wortham seniors this year. The scholarship application is available in my office and will be due back to me before Wednesday, April 30, 2014.

  9. Counselor News Wortham ISD 2014 Scholarships Nucor will provide an internship and a $3000 scholarship to a student who is pursuing a college degree in Civil Engineering. This scholarship is renewable for an additional 3 years for a total potential scholarship of $12,000. If you would like to apply for this internship and scholarship, please come by my office for a scholarship application form. The completed applications must be returned to me on or before February 28, 2014.

  17. Counselor News Wortham ISD 2014 Scholarships The Irene S. Wischer Education Foundation Scholarship provides college and technical school scholarships to exceptional students. This is a renewable scholarship award, and the value is based on the applicant's demonstrated financial need (not to exceed $10,800 per academic year). Counselor News Wortham ISD 2014 Scholarships AREA GO TEXAN SCHOLARSHIP In 2014, The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ will award 78 four-year, $18,000 Area Go Texan Scholarships to outstanding students graduating from public school districts in counties participating in the Show's Area Go Texan program. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo's Educational Programs are a significant part of the Show's goals of benefiting youth, supporting education, and facilitating better agricultural practices through exhibitions and presentation. All recipients of Show scholarships must demonstrate academic potential, citizenship/leadership and financial need, and they must attend a Texas college or university. The Terry Foundation is a Houston-based scholarship program founded to provide scholarships to outstanding Texas High school graduates for attendance at public colleges and universities within the state. In general, a Terry Foundation scholarship covers up to eight full semesters of undergraduate education. The Terry Scholarship is renewable annually for the eight semesters at the discretion of the Foundation's Directors. Applications for the Terry Foundation Scholarship are available only from the universities. Scholarship applications are not available from the Foundation. Also, Essay C is optional on the admissions applications, but you must fill this out or you will not qualify for the Terry Foundation Scholarship program. More...   21. Counselor News Wortham ISD 2014 Scholarships This year Centex Citizens Credit Union will be awarding three $1000 scholarships, three $500 scholarships, and one $750 vocational scholarship. The sole requirement for eligibility of the scholarship program is that the parents have been members in good standing of CCCU for at least one year. Applicants must fill out a detailed application and undergo a personal interview with members of the scholarship committee. If your parents are a member of CCCU, please come by my office to pick up a hard copy of the scholarship application. Counselor News Wortham ISD 2014 Scholarships • Tesoro Corporation is providing twenty one-time $2,500 college scholarships for graduating high school seniors in recognition of their demonstrated leadership in their schools and communities. Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements: • Be a current high school senior and plan to graduate at the end of the 2013/2014 academic year; • Possess a minimum, high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) through the end of the 2013 Fall semester; • Plan to enroll, full-time, at either an accredited two-year junior or community college, four-year college or university, or vocational or technical school at the start of the 2014/2015 academic year; • Be citizen or permanent resident of the United States; • Legally reside in one of the 19 states where Tesoro maintains current operations: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin or Wyoming; and • Demonstrate financial need.Applications for the program are managed by National Society of High School Scholars Foundation (NSHSSF) and must be submitted online to NSHSSF (www.nshssfoundation.org)on or before February 28, 2014.
