  1. Widow Fails to Prove Authenticity of Husband's Dh734m Will at Dubai Court Experts confirmed that signature on will doesn’t match with signature on passport. Summary The widow had filed a case before the Dubai court of Personal Status requesting that the will, purportedly signed in 2013 be acknowledged and implemented. However, the lawyer Awatif Mohammed from Al Rowaad Advocates argued that the widow filed this case after more than a year of the man’s death in Dubai in October 2020. The man, a Canadian, was a partner in a UAE based construction company. Mrs. Awatif from Al Rowaad The case was filed only after the late husband’s siblings requested an inheritance inventory from the court. Mrs. Awatif argued that there was no evidence which proved that the will had been registered in the UAE or Canada. Al Rowaad’s lawyer, Awatif Mohammed further argued that the wife had initially refused to submit the will to the court, and once the will was submitted, the criminal laboratory compared the signatures and found that the signatures were not matching. Based on these hearing, the Dubai court dismissed the case of the widow. The widow can appeal this decision within 30 days.
