  4. Wait, wait, wait. I’m still confused. What does that mean?

  5. OK, I’ll explain. Let’s say you want to solve 9 x 6

  6. Take the biggest factor and split it into 2 pieces.

  7. How do I know which 2 pieces?

  8. Start with facts that are easy.

  9. I know! I know! I know! Fives are easy for me!

  10. OK. Then start with 5.

  11. 5 4

  12. 9

  13. Now • Multiply multiply 5 x 6 • Then multiply 4 x 6

  14. 5 x 6 = 30 4 x 6 = 24 ____________ 30 + 24 = 54

  15. Tah! Dah! 9 x 6 = 54

  16. OK. • I’ll show you another way.
