  6. Regional Summary:Objectives • Inform NA & NAASF strategic efforts • Regional context for States • Highlight approaches and methods • NOT for State-to-State comparison • Complement the national summary

  7. Regional Summary: Teams & Process • Steering Team—execs. to strategically guide • Work Team—NA content analysis work horses • Reviewers—To consult with and review the drafts • Analysis work  start this month • Draft for reviewers  late August • Work on key messages by NA & NAASF

  9. Action #1Regional Summary & Key Messages NA, in coordination with Steering Team and reviewers, provide a summary of State Assessments and Strategies [Sept. 2010]. NAASF Communications Committee & NA Office of Communications work on key messages [Aug.-Nov. 2010].

Grant Narratives for Core FundsFY 2011 • Narratives reference State Strategy: • Intro describing how work, overall, relates • Throughout narrative, reference how work relates to State Assessment and Strategy. • Indicate which activities meet multiple State objectives. • Work towards developing example templates that states may choose to use (optional) in FY 2011.

  12. Grant Narratives for Core FundsFY 2012 and Beyond • RIC seek input from State & Fed. Staff on example templates piloted in FY2011 and refine. • Potentially use templates in FY 2012 “As grant narratives and the Assessments and Strategies become more intertwined, the template(s) will adapt and change…aiming for a streamlined and simple process.”

  13. Competitive Grant ProposalsFY 2011 • Work proposed should align with State Strategy. • More discussion on NA approach today & tomorrow.

  14. Accomplishment Reporting National S&PF core performance measures: • To report accomplishments for both “core” and competitively-allocated funds • 10 existing measures • 10 new measures State Annual Report on Use of Funds • Farm Bill requirement • Details need to be worked out

  15. Action #2S&PF Grants & Reporting NA and NAASF contribute to national efforts, and draft regional guidance as needed, for FY2011 and beyond [ongoing]: • Grant narratives and proposals • Accomplishments reporting, including S&PF Core Performance Measures and State Annual Report on Use of Funds

  16. Action #3Funding Flexibility Scott Fenimore Explore opportunities for integrated funding to implement State Strategies.

  17. Connect State Assess. & Strategies with Regional & National Efforts • Opportunities for Landscape Scale Conservation • Coordination for multi-state priorities • Connect with: • Regional assessment and planning efforts • National assessments

  18. Action #4Connect with Other Efforts NAASF, NA, FRPC, and others use the regional summary to connect with regional assessment and planning efforts. Draft a concise compendium of how each of the other efforts relates to State Assessments and Strategies [Begin Fall 2010, update semi-annually]

  19. Action #5Landscape Scale Conservation Move forward to address multi-state priorities: • Coordinated, strategic approach—NA facilitate • “Leave it to the States” approach ID opportunities for addressing multi-state priorities, including S&PF competitive funds

  20. Action #6Lessons Learned—Data Gaps • NA & FRPC ID data gaps [Oct. 2010] • Coordinate with National Data Strategy Team  develop data strategy[Sept. 2010-July 2011]

  21. Action #7Compile Lessons Learned • FRPC with support from NA • Compile feedback from today & FRPC mtg. • Highlights, challenges, lessons learned • Initially by Nov. 2010; follow-up annually
