  1. Checkbook entry #1 • After you have determined your net weekly salary on the worksheet, Welcome to the Working World, fill out your first deposit slip. Add this first deposit to your check register.

  2. Check entry 2Check 101 Your new car breaks down on the Interstate. You must pay Tip Top Towing $50.00 to haul your vehicle back to the repair shop. *Memo:model of car *Check register!

  3. Checkbook Entry 3Check # 102 • You adopt a pet. Pay Warrensburg Animal Shelter $55.00 for adoption fees. You will be expected to sign a contract stating you will get your new pet neutered or spayed! • Memo: Type of pet and its name • Check register!

  4. Checkbook entry 4Check # 103 • You purchase gas today for your new car. Your gas tank holds 25 gallons and you are on empty. Gas is currently $4.00 per gallon. Fill your vehicle up at McDuff’s Ready to Go. • Check register!

  5. PAY DAY! Checkbook entry #5 Check register! • Complete your second deposit slip using your net salary from “Welcome to the Working World.” You may not change your salary at any time during this activity.

  6. Checkbook entry 6Check # 104 • Your new pet got sick over the weekend. Write a check to the veterinarian for $135.00. The doctor’s name is Dr. Jones. Check register!

  7. Checkbook entry 7Check #105 • Rent time! If you make over $45,000 your rent is $750.00. If you make less than $45,000 your rent is $250.00. Make this check out to your landlord, Mrs. V. Chapman. • Memo: type of dwelling

  8. Checkbook entry 8Check # 106 • Take a friend to dinner and a movie. Write check #106 to Chucky Cheese for $20.45. • Write check #107 to the Star Movie Theater for $25.00 (this includes drinks and popcorn). • Memo: friend’s name

  9. Checkbook entry 9Check #108 • Purchase two items from Electronic and Music Friends. Your total cost is $36.75. Subtract this debt from your balance. • Memo: Write the two items you purchased.
