    5. Fungsi setiap jenis ubat moden Analgesik ialah ubat yang dapat menghilangkan kesakitan seperti aspirin, parasetamol dan kodeina. Aspirin juga dikenali sebagai pelali sakit. Antibiotik ialah bahan kimia yang menghapuskan atau menghalang pertumbuhan mikroorganisma yang berjangkit. Ia dihasilkan oleh mikroorganisma seperti kulat. Dua contoh antibiotik ialah penisilin dan streptomisin.
