  1. How did you attract/address your audience?

  2. Who was your audience? • As mentioned before, we decided to aim our thriller opening to an audience of young adults and adults due to the psychological themes we would have used in the rest of the film. • This was ideal because it meant that many opinions of the other students in our school were available to access. Our peers were able to watch our product at lunchtimes and after school to give us their opinion on our work. • Had we decided to aim our thriller film at a much older, wiser generation, it would be a lot more difficult to come up with ideas to both entertain and impress them, as well as gain their criticisms and praise for peer assessment.

  3. How did you address them? • We decided that by using Iffat as the pizza delivery boy, young adults would be able to relate to his age and occupation which would therefore attract them to the rest of the storyline, seeing as the actors would most likely be in the same age group as him. • Before beginning to film our product I also asked around my friend group about their opinions of psychological thrillers. Seeing as many of my friends study psychology (including myself), many of them said that they found the genre ‘interesting’ and that they liked how ‘directors can get in to the mind of the audience’. Taking this on board, my group and I decided to involve plenty of detail in to the opening to do with ambiguity and confusion. • Overall, these factors allowed us to be able to relate to our target audience by applying both demographics and psychographics in to the product. “ “My thoughts are quiet, but not calm. There is a terror on the edge of the silence, a terror fed by my burning flesh and the stench of death.” -Christine Fonseca, Transcend (a psychological thriller novel)

  4. What did they think? Jenny, 17 “I liked the tense music and the grey, metallic colouring and the use of the recording camera, I disliked that it was difficult to hear what the speaker thing was saying.” Cameron, 17 “I like the sound effects used and the atmospheric music, it creates a good ambience. It gives a sense of tension and (even though I know nothing about shots), the quickly changing shots in the second half of the video give it an eerie panicky feel to it. The only thing I don't like is the jolty filming and sound from the start (although that may have been intentional).”

  5. What did they think? Poppy ,17 “I like how you filmed from different angles, it wasn't standard amateur filming, the effects that you used were really effective and actually looked like it could be from a film! The only thing I could actually say about it is the actor could've been a little bit more realistic.” Dan, 19 “I thought it had generally good tense music and that it felt really professional, I’d want to continue watching.”

  6. Overall, we believe that we chose the right target audience for our thriller film, as we didn’t want to make it too thrilling or confusing, but just the right amount. Most young adults would be able to watch the opening and detect that there is something wrong with the situation, which would hopefully leave them wanting to continue watching and uncover the mystery behind the voice box...
