SPEAK THE SAME LANGUAGE Armed Services personnel do not all talk the same way… If you told Navy or Coast Guard personnel to “secure a building,” they would turn off the lights and lock the doors. The Army would occupy so no one could enter. Marines would assault the building, capture it, and defend it with suppressive fire and close combat. The Air Force would take out a year lease with an option to buy. T-3.3.B

Unemployment Insurance Benefits • Honorable Discharge Required. • States determine eligibility and benefit amounts (need DD214 to apply). • Usually payable for 26 weeks over a 52 week period; part-time or temporary work will not cancel eligibility in most cases. • Active fulltime job search required. • Retirement pay usually offsets some or all of benefits payable; each state has it’s rules. • Long unemployment period can hurt your prospects of getting hired; do part-time work or school if you want a break.
