I learn best… • When instructions and expectations are clear. • In a comfortable environment. • When given assignments ahead of time. • When a rubric is provide • When I can make a connection to the new content.
I am distracted by (or when) • When people make/ cause interruptions. Ex: talking out of turn, on cell phone. • I have something else on my mind. Ex: other classes or situations that may have occurred that bother me. • I don’t understand the information being taught or given to me. Ex: if I do not understand, after a while I will begin to loose attention. • Chew with their mouth open. • Make unnecessary noises. Ex: with their mouth, clicking a pen, small noises yet unnecessary. • When I'm hungry
Tools which help me study include: • Sticky notes • Lists • Colored ink • Highlighters • Well organized notes
My academic strengths include • Note taking • Staying organized • Getting assignments done in a short amount of time. • Individual projects
My academic problem areas include: • Test taking • Writing; if I'm uninterested in the topic. • Getting distracted when doing assignments • Working in groups. • Long papers
My Learning Style Description • I do not like working in groups because the contribution is never equal, I do not like waiting on people to get things done. • Before a test, I can never force myself to stay awake to study. I always say to my self “if I don’t know it by now, I wont know it”. • Many times, I write in different colored ink because when its time to study for a test I can remember information by what color ink I used. • I also stay organized with my notes because I have flashbacks during test of what my notes look like. • When I have many things to do, I write a list of what I need to do with the deadlines, I look at it and update it periodically until its time to write a new list. • I am a hands on learner, if I do something I will have better memory of the information.
Academic Profile Conclusion • Visual learning is my strongest learning style, however I can sometimes be an auditory or kinesthetic learner.
