Conclusions and recommendations • Countries are strongly encouraged to review WFD guidance document 22 for guidance on GIS data • EEA strongly encourages that full polygons are submitted • EEA will provide member states with a recommendation of common definitions for coastlines • It is recommended to focus on a better coordination between RBD’s within a country. EEA encourages NRC to take this opportunity to identify who in their country is responsible for providing the article 5 data and raise awareness of potential quality issues of transitional and coastal water bodies

For discussion... • Are you aware of the quality of the data submitted for article 5 in your country? - and are you aware of plans to resubmit new data sets in 2010? • Are you prepared to submit polygons rather than centroids for the 2010 resubmission? • Would you be willing to participate in a voluntary update following the 2010 resubmission, if judged necessairy by the EEA?
