  2. Professional Readiness Exam You MUST pass the PRE to get into the teacher education program at Alma College The test includes 3 subtests: • Math • Writing • Reading You must pass all three subtests. You may take one or all three tests on the same test day.

  3. You do not have to take a subtest if… • Math – ACT 22 or MME 1116 • Reading – ACT 22 or MME 1108 • Writing – ACT 24 or MME 1129

  4. The Writing Test The Writing Subtest consists of forty-two multiple-choice questions Two written constructed-response assignments. The written portion of the essay includes an Analytic Argument of approximately 300-400 words and an Explanatory essay of approximately 200-300 words. Both essays are evaluated on appropriateness, focus and unity, organization, development, grammar, and conventions.

  5. Test Make-Up • Fundamentals of Effective Writing 50% • Composition 50%
