Skater Dress • Reminiscent of the outfits of female figure skaters, the skater dress combines playful hemlines and whimsical fabrics to create a beautiful, feminine silhouette. • Strappy sleeves, high hemlines and low necks combine to create a dress which is surprisingly demure and flattering on any figure. • Skater dresses are one of the hardest working pieces in a closet. It can be worn with sandals or loafers for summer, with tights and heels in winter.

  5. Maxi Dress • Maxi dresses are identified by a long, floor length dress that is for informal wear. This dress looks great on both tall and petite girls, unlike the myth everyone believes. • The history of a Maxi dress is actually been a bit controversial. There are some who believe that the maxi dress trend originated from the 70s, but it was actually first created by Oscar de la Renta in the 60's. It was then, during the 70's when all designers started to create their own maxi dresses. • It only lasted a decade before it fell out because the romantic feminine look was no longer what people wanted. With women further pursuing higher end business jobs, the trend to look masculine came to take the spotlight. Maxi hit the runway once again in 2007 and has stayed ever since.

  7. Baby Doll • A baby doll dress is where the waistline positioned higher than where the natural waist is. The typical placement for the waistlines on these dresses ranges from the mid-ribcage region to just below the bust line. The skirt of the dress then falls from there, draping away from the body. Babydoll dresses also typically involve lace or ruffles, due to their childlike nature. • The name of the dress comes from the fact that most toy dolls wear a similar style outfit. This style is also particularly popular in children's and infant's clothing. Babydoll dresses also tend to have shorter hemlines than many other types of dresses. According to dictionary.com, babydoll styles are prevalent in sleepwear and lingerie but have evolved to become daytime wear.

  9. Floral Print • As spring has sprung so has the floral trend in women’s dresses. As it represents the start of spring and the hot sun shining, floral printing on dresses is a trend that will not be worn out and just like flowers pop up everywhere during this season, so do the prints of roses, daisies and lilies. • It makes sense wearing flowers to decorate our clothes; they are pretty, they are symbolic of femininity, and they show the beauty of the natural world. • The floral print originates from the east and Asia; throughout history, traders brought fabrics with ornate floral designs to Europe where they sold for very high prices. To have been able to wear these fabrics was a status symbol.

  11. Nautical Inspired • Hallmarks of the nautical style are slim silhouettes, sometimes scalloped necklines and a pleated or flared bottom. • The dark blues and reds are usually broken up by pristine whites nodding to a patriotic and nostalgic American statement reflecting a proud, post-war fashion climate. • Reemerges each spring playing with new ways of presenting the sailor-esque patterns between stripes, checkers and collars.
