  2. Hestia • Greek name: Hestia • Roman Name: Vesta • Goddess of the hearth and the home I chose this picture of Hestia because you can see that she is veiled and modestly dressed. She is standing behind Demeter, the mother of Persephone, the wife of Hades. This is interesting because she is the goddess of harvest, which helps families prosper. Hestia is the goddess of the hearth, which keeps families warm and safe. That is why I chose this picture. This picture is from c.500 B.C.

Seyffert, Dictionary of Classical Antiquities, 1894 I chose this picture because it depicts Hestia once again modestly veiled. Although it is a picture, it looks three – dimensional because it portrays a statue. Examples of how it shows 3-D are the folds in her skirt and the curls in her hair. Hestia is not to be one of the most powerful Olympians, and this picture shows that, and mostly depicts her beauty.
