  1. Sharing the Gospel Your Testimony

  2. Personal Testimony Facts • 100 percent of all Christians have a powerful testimony to share. • Our relationship with Jesus grows through daily Bible study and prayer. • Our witness then flows out of that daily and life-changing relationship with Him. • Because of the power of the Holy Spirit, we possess everything needed to effectively share the life-changing power of God!

  3. Your Personal Testimony • Your Testimony has authority • You are the eyewitness and source of information for your salvation experience • People are more likely to believe an eyewitness over other sources of information • Your personal testimony is not debatable • Nonbelievers cannot argue about what happened to you! • Your testimony carries authority because you are the one who had the experience.

  4. Your Personal Testimony • Your Testimony Communicates • It is more than words or ideas • It is real life because it happened to you • We are all passionate about what happened to us

  5. Your Personal Testimony • Your Testimony Relates • Nonbelievers may be experiencing the same feelings, struggles and temptations as you without the benefit of Jesus in their lives. • Nonbelievers will be able to relate to your life experiences as they search for true meaning and joy in life. • Hopefully, the nonbeliever will begin to consider Jesus as the answer for their lives as they hear how you discovered life.

  6. Paul’s Personal Testimony • Acts 22 & 26 • Acts 26:9-23 • Paul opposed everything that Jesus taught (vv. 9-12) • Paul met Jesus – bright light & voice of Jesus (vv. 13-15) • Paul is commissioned to take the Gospel to the Gentiles (vv. 16-23)

  7. Personal Testimony Guidelines • Be brief – no longer than 3 to 5 minutes • Give precise details about the most important points • Avoid “Christian lingo” like “I repented” or “I accepted Christ” • Practice your testimony to become more confident & effective • Be yourself, relax & use your normal voice • Be friendly, smile & maintain eye contact • Be sure to listen to both verbal and nonverbal responses • Pray that the Holy Spirit gives you wisdom , boldness and strength • Be real every time you share your testimony

  8. Developing a Personal Testimony • My life before I made a commitment to follow Jesus. • How I came to know Jesus personally. • My life since I came to know Jesus personally. • Scripture to memorize: • Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (NIV) • Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (NIV)
