The Importance of Saving Endangered Species for Ecological Balance and Cultural Heritage

This project highlights the critical need to save endangered species to maintain ecological balance, preserve food chains, and support nature cycles. It emphasizes the economic value of wildlife, which includes resources like timber and medicines. Many species, such as the Dodo and Tasmanian Wolf, have already gone extinct, emphasizing our cultural loss. Current endangered species include the Red Panda and One-Horned Rhinoceros. We discuss conservation methods, including habitat preservation and protection from poaching, and the role of various conservation organizations in safeguarding wildlife.

  1. Endangered Species A CONNECTING CLASSROOMS PROJECT

  2. Importance of saving animals • To maintain ecological 'balance of nature' and maintain food chain and nature cycles. • It has economic value. Many wild plants provide useful substances like timber, paper, gums etc. • Wild life of a country is its cultural asset.

  3. Many species are already extinct. • Dodo • Elephant Bird • Tasmanian Wolf • Quagga • Caspian Tiger • Irish Deer • Saber-toothed Tigers • Haast’s Eagle

  4. Some endangered species. Here are some endangered species: • Red Panda • Indian Langur • Peregrine Falcon • One-Horned Rhinoceros • American Bison • California Condor

  5. Example of the decreases in the animal population. • Tigers are one of the main examples of decreasing of animal life, earlier there used to be thousands of tigers in India, but now there are only 1411 tigers left in India. Out of six tiger species, three are already extinct!

  6. How can you conserve the endangered species? • You can conserve wildlife by giving them access to proper nutrition. • They must not be killed. Rare species of animals must be taken to the wild life conservatory.  • Various projects and wildlife conservation programmes like Project Tiger should be started. • Ban on poaching and hunting .

  8. Major threats to wildlife • Habitat loss • Climate change • Pesticides and toxic chemicals • Hunting and poaching • Natural phenomena • Pollution • Over-exploitation of resources • Accidental deaths
