  2. Tycho Brahe, born Tyge Ottesen Brahe (14 December 1546 – 24 October 1601) • Brahe was of Danish nationality • Tycho Brahe was well known for his work in astronomy

  3. Tycho’s work • Brahe was awarded an estate on the island of Hven, where he built the Uraniborg which was an early research institute • In 1597 he became the official imperial astronomer • Brahe’s discoveries were used by his assistant Johannes Kepler to create the laws of planetary motion

  4. In 1572 Brahe discovered this supernova now named SN 1572

  5. Tyco and today • Tyco Brahe’s theories and findings are still considered to be accurate today
