Tycho was Born in Knutstorp Castle, Sweden • He died in Prague, Czech Republic • His father, Otee Brahe, was a nobleman and an important figure at the Court of the Danish King. • His mother, BeateBille, came from an important family that had produced leading churchmen and politicians • When he was 2, his uncle took him away to “become a scholar” • He attended Latin school from ages 6 to 12 • Began studying at the University of Copenhagen at age 12He studied law but was interested in astronomy

Brahe was best known for his accurate and comprehensive astronomical and planetary observations… He worked without telescopes yet was able to devise a way to come up with precise measurements which indicated that supernovae lack parallax usually expected within sub-lunar phenomena. Parallax is the effect whereby the position or direction of an object appears to differ when viewed from different positions

  5. Brahe also combined the CopernianSysterm with the PtolemiacStystem, creating the Tychonic System. *this system is not helio-centric

  6. He also discovered the star SN 1572, which is found within the constellation of Cassiopeia.

  7. Lost part of his nose in a sword duel against ManderupParbery when they were arguing over a mathematical equation. • Had a pet elk.
