  1. Wicca A Neo-pagan Religion By: Chris Mason

  2. Origins of Wicca • Wicca is said to have originated from England in the 20th century. • Wicca was founded by Gerald Gardner.

  3. Beliefs within Wicca • Wiccans live by the Wiccan Rede. “An it harm none, do as you will” • They believe in a goddess and her consort, the horned god • They have a great reverence for the earth. • They do not believe in a supreme evil.

  4. Holy days of Wicca • Many of wiccan holy days resemble our own holidays. • One example is Halloween.

  5. Wiccan structure • Wiccans have no high authority unlike many others, such as with Catholics having the pope. • Many are sole-practitioners. • Some form groups called, Groves, Covens, etc.

  6. Wiccan afterlife • There is no set after life for wiccans. • Many believe in reincarnation, such as in Hinduism. • But differing from Hinduism many wiccans believe that they will be reincarnated into another witch.

  7. Wiccan symbols and religious texts • There many symbols for Wicca, but the most mainly used is the pentagram • The Book of Shadows is the main text for wiccans.

  8. Location of Wicca today • Wicca is mainly in Great Britain and in America. • The actual number of wiccans worldwide is unknown.

  9. Attitudes to Wicca • Many believe Wiccans are Satanist, but this is untrue. Wiccans in general do not believe in the concept of Satan. Many associate the inverted pentagram of Satanism to the pentagram of Wicca. • Some believe that wiccans should not be given the same rights to join the military for they believe that it would undermine the readiness of the military because of their pacifism, and the thought that many Christians would not be willing to work with them.
