  2. Lent • Lent is the period of 40 weekdays that the Christian Church is devoted to fasting. • Lent is about sacrificing something that is important to us to bring us closer to our faith.

  3. When is Lent? • Lent lasts for 40 days • Starts on Ash Wednesday and ends on Easter Sunday. • The three things we focus on is prayer, fasting and almsgiving. • Prayer is so we get closer to God and fasting is so that we sacrifice and almsgiving is to care for others

  4. How lent started. • Jesus fasted in the desert for 40 days for the love he has for God. This is why Lent is a 40 length period from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday.

  5. Why is the color purple used? • The color purple symbolizes the pain and suffering leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion and the suffering of all human beings.
