What is Metabolism? • Metabolism refers to the chemical processes that take place in the body in order to sustain life • Metabolic rate (Basal or resting metabolic rate) refers to the number of calories your body uses at rest just to keep all the vital organs functioning • The number of calories that your body burns is directly related to your body composition • For every pound of fat-free mass burns about 14 calories per day at rest

  3. Rev Up Your Metabolism • Daily Regimen Tips: • 30 min exercise per day • Resistance train 3 days a week • Start small • Do not skip meals or eat too few calories, it will slow your metabolism • Never, never skip breakfast • Snack on protein rich food stuffs to prevent cravings

  4. Power Your Metabolism With Protein • Your muscle mass works like a furnace, burning calories and stored fat for energy • The more muscle you have the higher your metabolism, the higher your ,metabolism the faster you burn calories • Protein is essential to maintain and to increase muscle mass
