Curriculum enhancement project: Why we’re doing it • Enhancing disciplinary study • A curriculum structured for a research intensive university • Giving all students the opportunity to broaden their experience • An opportunity to refresh assessment methods • Encouraging independent learning • HE landscape is changing • At the heart of the University’s strategy

Curriculum enhancement project:Scope of work • Core programme threads • threads for inclusion in all UG programmes • guidance on how to incorporate within programmes • examples of how to demonstrate threads in curriculum • Broadening the curriculum • defining broader study within and outside the discipline • structure for broader study modules outside the main discipline • consideration of the funding model

Curriculum enhancement project:Scope of work • Modular & academic year structure and assessment • consideration of changes to the academic year and their implications • optimum balance of compulsory, optional and broader study modules • review of assessment at Leeds and alternative recommendations • Communications • co-ordination of consultation • strategy for marketing broad study modules to students • internal and external communications strategy • liaison with professional bodies and employers

Curriculum enhancement project:Next steps • Meetings of subgroups during October to December to: • focus on threads common to all programmes • identify the breadth strands in which electives would operate • review alternative assessment options to support the curriculum • Consultation with faculties/schools late November/early December on the proposals reached from the subgroups • First meeting of the Project Board to review proposals 1 December
