Writing Prompt Tell the story of your most accomplished moment. You could talk about sports, music, dance, academics, work, community service, etc. You will have 3 minutes to write, so you might not get to tell the whole story, but that’s not a problem! The only rule for this is that you WRITE THE WHOLE TIME!
It’s time to…SPICE UP YOUR WRITING!Start writing…when the music is over, finish your sentence and put your pencil down.
Use some sentence variety to spice it up! Begin sentences with an adverb! Examples: • Luckily, I won the lottery last night. • Unfortunately, no one passed the exam. • Quickly, the teacher closed the door to the classroom. • Sadly, the girls were unable to get back into the classroom. • Cleverly, they tried to get a key from Mrs. Price.
Notice the pattern when using an adverb! Awkwardly, the student tried the new dance move. -ly word(adverb), subject + predicate.
