  1. HEROES

  2. Prophet of God 2nd Captivity period Nebuchadnezzar, Darius, and Cyrus Interpreted Nebuchadnezzar’s dream Interpreted the “writing on the wall” Survived the Lion’s Den Daniel

  3. Dan 1:4 • 4 youths in whom was no blemish, but well-favored, and skilful in all wisdom, and endued with knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability to stand in the king's palace; and that he should teach them the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.

  4. Foundation Daniel

  5. Daniel 1:8 • 8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king's dainties, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

  6. Psalm 11:3 3 If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?

  7. Eph 2:19-22 • 19 So then ye are no more strangers and sojourners, but ye are fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God, being built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief corner stone; in whom each several building, fitly framed together, groweth into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom ye also are builded together for a habitation of God in the Spirit.

  8. Matt 16:15ff • 15 He saith unto them, But who say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jonah: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father who is in heaven. And I also say unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

  9. Daniel • Foundation • Resolve/ Determination

  10. Resolve • 8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king's dainties, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

  11. Daniel 6:10 • 10 And when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house (now his windows were open in his chamber toward Jerusalem) and he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

  12. Rom 5:3-5 • 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

  13. 1 Peter 1:7-8 • 7 that the proof of your faith, (being) more precious than gold that perisheth though it is proved by fire, may be found unto praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ: • 8 whom not having seen ye love; on whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice greatly with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

  14. Daniel • Foundation • Resolve/ Determination

  15. The Plan… • Hear the Gospel • Romans 10:17, Rom 1:16, Rom 10:14 • Believe the Gospel • John 8:24, Mark 16:16, Hebrews 11:6 • Repent of your sins • Acts 2:38, Acts 3:19, 2 Peter 3:9 • Confess Jesus the Christ • Matthew 10:32-33, Romans 10:9,10

  16. Baptism • Eph 4:4-6 • Mark 16:16 • Acts 2:38-41 • Acts 8:26-39 • I Pet 3:18-22 • Rom 6:1-4

  17. 21 Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you - not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience--through the resurrection of Jesus Christ

  18. Hear the GospelRomans 10:17, Rom 1:16, Rom 10:14 • Believe the GospelJohn 8:24, Mark 16:16, Hebrews 11:6 • Repent of your sinsActs 2:38, Acts 3:19, 2 Peter 3:9 • Confess Jesus the ChristMatthew 10:32-33, Romans 10:9,10 • Be Baptized for the remission of sinsRom 6:1-4, 1 Peter 3:18-22, Acts 8:26-39, Acts 2:38, Mark 16:16, Eph 4:3-6

  19. Jude 1-7 • Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are called, beloved in God the Father, and kept for Jesus Christ: • 2 Mercy unto you and peace and love be multiplied. • 3 Beloved, while I was giving all diligence to write unto you of our common salvation, I was constrained to write unto you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered unto the saints.

  20. 4 For there are certain men crept in privily, (even) they who were of old written of beforehand unto this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. • 5 Now I desire to put you in remembrance, though ye know all things once for all, that the Lord, having saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not. • 6 And angels that kept not their own principality, but left their proper habitation, he hath kept in everlasting bonds under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

  21. 7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them, having in like manner with these given themselves over to fornication and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the punishment of eternal fire.
