  1. Elisa Castelli Fifth International Radiative Transfer Modeling Workshop in Bredbeck, July 7 to 10, 2003.

  2. My institute Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate (ISAC) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR). ISAC is a national institute of CNR whose headquarters are located in Bologna on the southern outskirts of the Po Valley, at the foothills of the Apennines. Over 200 staff members, postdoctoral researchers, and students. Focus on understanding atmospheric processes and climate with emphasis on • atmospheric radiation, • radarmeteorology, • satellite meteorology, • climate and its variations, • atmospheric chemistry, • atmospheric aerosols, • atmospheric composition and trace gases, • cloud physics … Fifth International Radiative Transfer Modeling Workshop in Bredbeck, July 7 to 10, 2003.

  3. My work Development of algorithm to retrieve stratospheric chemical and physical parameters using far infrared spectra. Data analysis of measurements recorded by SAFIRE and MARSCHALS instruments.(Supervisor: Bianca Maria Dinelli) • SAFIRE-A: is a far infrared fourier transform spectrometer operating onboard Geophysica Stratospheric Aircraft. • MARSCHALS: Millimetre-wave Airborne Receiver for Spectroscopic CHaracterisation of Atmospheric Limb-Sounding, which is a European Space Agency prototype airborne instrument Fifth International Radiative Transfer Modeling Workshop in Bredbeck, July 7 to 10, 2003.

  4. The M55- Geophysica The M-55 Geophysica is a dual turbofan aircraft produced by Myasishchev Design Bureau (MDB). The aircraft can carry heavy payloads of the order of 1500 kg and can operate at an altitude up to 21-22 km for about 5-6 hours. ENVISAT VALIDATION CAMPAIGN MID-LAT VALIDATION CAMPAIGN, Forlì - October 2002 ARCTIC VALIDATION CAMPAIGNS, Kiruna - January-March 2003 Fifth International Radiative Transfer Modeling Workshop in Bredbeck, July 7 to 10, 2003.

  5. Forward model: creation of syntetic spectra VMR profiles for O3, H2O, HCl, N2O, HNO3, ClO, OH T,P profiles from ECMWF or NCEP data INVERSION METHOD Trough χ2 minimization VMR profiles from models Spectroscopic data from HITRAN database RAS: Retrieval Algorithm for SAFIRE-A RAS Fifth International Radiative Transfer Modeling Workshop in Bredbeck, July 7 to 10, 2003.

  6. Fifth International Radiative Transfer Modeling Workshop in Bredbeck, July 7 to 10, 2003.

  7. ENVISAT VALIDATION CAMPAIGN MID-LAT VALIDATION CAMPAIGN, Forlì - October 2002 Fifth International Radiative Transfer Modeling Workshop in Bredbeck, July 7 to 10, 2003.

  8. MARSCHALS • MARSCHALS is an heterodyne instrument that measures the atmospheric thermal emission with the limb sounding technique, operates within the atmosphere on an air-borne platform. • Major objective is to test measurements capabilities of MASTER Fifth International Radiative Transfer Modeling Workshop in Bredbeck, July 7 to 10, 2003.

  9. MARSCHALS’Retrieval Algorithm • Development in progress by ISAC-CNR Bologna, IFAC-CNR Florence, ASPER Main Features: • Scattering and Polarization model (by Cesare Cecchi Pestellini, he is here!) • Horizontal gradients • Retrieval of pointing VMR and temperature • Retrieval of horizontal gradient profiles Fifth International Radiative Transfer Modeling Workshop in Bredbeck, July 7 to 10, 2003.
