A consumer is someone who ___________________________ goods / services at a variety of stores/ businesses. Things for a consumer to consider are: Taxes (_____________ to the purchase) Discounts (_______________ from the purchase) Tips (________________ to the purchase) When calculating the tax, discount, or tip, we always need to find the part out of the total for various different percentages. There are 2 ways to do this: the percent proportion formula ( = ), OR the multiplication method(change % to a decimal and multiply). For example: You are at Target. Your total, before tax, is $28.50. If the sales tax is 6%, what is your total, including the tax? There are two ways to solve above problem:
