  1. NonviolenceRAMYA SAMPATH

  2. Characteristics of Nonviolence • One should not yield to anger nor should they lie • Even if one is treated with anger, hate, and violence, they should respond with love and understanding • Violence is a higher law than destruction for it takes more effort to rid yourself of hate than to act upon it • Love will ultimately gain mastery over all other feelings • The law of love will never fail • Violence is rash and chaotic and will not solve problems like nonviolence will

  3. Similar Quotes • “He who possesses virtue and intelligence, who is just, speaks the truth, and does what is his own business, him the world will hold dear.” The man who is virtuous and honest will be revered. • “The virtuous man cannot be hurt and the misery that the other would inflict comes back on himself.” • "A wicked man who reproaches a virtuous one is like one who looks up and spits at heaven; the spittle soils not the heaven, but comes back and defiles his own person.“ The one who harms the virtuous man will be punished by feeling the pain that he tried to inflict. • “Violence as a strategy for social change in America is nonexistent. All the sound and fury seems but the posturing of cowards whose bold talk produces no action and signifies nothing. I am convinced that for practical as well as moral reasons, nonviolence offers the only road to freedom for my people.” Violence will not get anything done for it is unorganized and carried out by cowards. Courageous people use nonviolence as a means of getting what they want and it is not only moral, but organized and productive.
