  2. Biography. Sir Walter Raleigh was born on an unknown date but somewhere between 1552 and1554. Sir Walter Raleigh was the youngest of five brothers and grew up on a farm in East Budleigh. Walter Raleigh is known more for planning the voyage to the new world but he was also a poet. Sir Walter was also credited for helping defeat the Spanish Armada. Many of Sir Walter’s poems are about love and the pilgrims who journeyed to the new world. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Raleigh

  3. Poetry Background. Sir Walter wrote poems and had an act for writing them. Sir Walter based most of him poems on the colonists, pilgrims, and love. Sir Walter was known for his genuine talent of administration. Sir Walter also sometimes took what he wrote about in his poems and painted it. Sir Walter not only painted and wrote poetry but was also a writer.

They that are rich in words, in words discover That they are poor in that which makes a lover. • Analysis: • -I think Sir Walter Raleigh is saying that rich, snobby people can’t love as good as people the are poor. • Walter discovers things about his lover when they are quiet. • Raleigh doesn’t like people who are too deep.
