  3. Introduction Curriculum Vitae: an outline of a person's educational and professional history, usually prepared for job applications. Another name for a CV is arésumé. 3

Why do we need a CV? • Your virtual presence in front of the employer • Personal details are highlighted in the best possible way • "sell" your skills, abilities, qualifications and experience • There is no "one best way" to construct a CV Everyone has potential Everyone has more skills than they think they do Everyone can write a good CV

  8. How to produce a good CV? • Proof read! • proof-reading for spelling, punctuation and other errors. • Check, draft, re-draft and check again! • Make sure it’s the best document you possess

How to produce a good CV? – Do’s • Use a standard font size in black ink • Include recent and relevant work experience (paid or voluntary) • Keep it short (2 pages for recent graduates) • Use positive action verbs such as ‘organized, delivered, accomplished, achieved’ • Include a statement about your career aspirations and what you have to offer the employer (your objective!) • Be honest, but positive • Proof read and spell check

  10. How to produce a good CV? – Don'ts • Do it in a rush • Leave gaps in employment • Lie • Include irrelevant personal details such as marital status • Simply write a list of duties under work experience (remember you’re selling yourself!) • Use flashy or large font
