  2. Polygons A polygon is a closed figure whose sides are made up of straight line segments that do not cross.

  3. Naming Polygons

  4. Classifying Quadrilaterals Quadrilaterals are four-sided polygons.

  5. Trapezoids Trapezoids are quadrilaterals that have exactly one pair of parallel lines. Isosceles trapezoids have congruent legs (the non-parallel sides)

  6. Parallelograms Parallelograms are quadrilaterals that have two pairs of parallel lines.

  7. There are three special kinds of parallelograms: Rectangle Rhombus Square

  8. RECTANGLE A rectangle is a parallelogram that has four right angles. An equiangular parallelogram

  9. RHOMBUS A rhombus is a parallelogram that has four congruent sides. An equilateral parallelogram

  10. SQUARE A square is a parallelogram that has four right angles and four congruent sides. An equiangular rhombus or An equilateral rectangle or A regular parallelogram

  11. Your Turn. Name these polygons.
