Theme Passage 2 Cor 3 5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, 6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
Ministry-while there are many kinds of ministry, all of them involve representing God by the giving of something of value to another- love, truth, help, hope, wisdom, service, sustenance, grace…
1) Ministry is born out of our own experience with God- 2 Cor 5:17-18 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God…
1) Ministry is born out of our own experience with God- 2 Cor 5:17-18 Ministry, since it represents God, flows from our experience with God.

2 Cor 1 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
1) Ministry is born out of our own experience with God- 2 Cor 5:17-18 Am I using my experiences with God for ministry or just my own personal gain?
2) Ministry is a commission from God to join Him in His work- 2 Cor 5:18-19 18… who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, & has given us the ministry of reconciliation,
2) Ministry is a commission from God to join Him in His work- 2 Cor 5:18-19 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, & has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
2) Ministry is a commission from God to join Him in His work- 2 Cor 5:18-19 God had given us a ministry, we do not create ministry for Him. It is His work, that will be fulfilled as He gets glory and honor. Our task is to join in with Him in accomplishing His will in His Kingdom.
Luke 10 1 After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, & sent them two by two before His face into every city & place where He Himself was about to go.
Luke 10 2 Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. 3 Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves.
Isaiah 55 8 "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the Lord. 9 "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, & My thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55 10 "For as the rain comes down, & the snow from heaven, & do not return there, But water the earth, & make it bring forth & bud, That it may give seed to the sower & bread to the eater,
Isaiah 55 11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, & it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
- Our ministry cannot glorify God if we are setting the agenda, the work and the message. His ways are not our ways…
2) Ministry is a commission from God to join Him in His work- 2 Cor 5:18-19 Am I joining in with God’s work in, through and around my life?
3) Ministry is allowing God access to our life- 2 Cor 5:20-21 20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.
3) Ministry is allowing God access to our life- 2 Cor 5:20-21 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
3) Ministry is allowing God access to our life- 2 Cor 5:20-21 Our struggle with ministry often comes from our perception of how strong, smart or talented we are, but ministry is allowing the Spirit of God to work through us and equip us for the task at hand.
Luke 12 11 Now when they bring you to the synagogues & magistrates & authorities, do not worry about how or what you should answer, or what you should say. 12 For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say
3) Ministry is allowing God access to our life- 2 Cor 5:20-21 Does God have access to my life so He can accomplish ministry or do I keep a tight control on how much I represent Him?
