  3. All Saints RC School • General information • 2 large separate buildings, an old convent and a pension • 100 new students every year • focus on language and art • good behaviour = iPod • strict rules on hair, jewellery, make-up • uniform not in 6th form

All Saints RC School • A Catholic School: • “All Saints is a Catholic school guided by the teachings, traditions, spirituality and sacraments of the Catholic Church and committed to Christian Gospel values. We look to Christ for leadership and inspiration and our school community is characterised by his example of love and service.”

  5. All Saints RC School • A Language College • French, German and Spanish are traditionally taught at the school. All the languages can be the first foreign language for some years. • Additional: Italian, Polish and Japanese

  6. All Saints IMPRESSIONS • “When we went to the All Saints Roman Catholic School, I was curious about what to expect. The homepage made the impression of a school attaching great importance to very good work by the pupils.” • “After we had been welcomed by the head teacher, we had a short guided tour around the school.”

  7. All Saints IMPRESSIONS • “… both buildings were old and spread a nice atmosphere.” • “After we had a quick look at the chapel we were split up into small groups of two or three people in order to visit several classes.”

  9. All Saints IMPRESSIONS “The discipline of the pupils was somehow missing in this lesson. The teacher had great difficulties in calming down the boys and girls. But this was different in other lessons.”

St Peter‘s School • General information • founded in 627 AD (third oldest school in Britain) – coeducational school from 1976 (all boys school until 1976) • private boarding & day school; 520 students (136 full boarders) • consists of Clifton Pre-Preparatory School (3-8 years); St Olave’s (8-13 years) and St Peter’s (13-18 years)

  14. General information  Who can attend the school? pupils who have been to Clifton Pre-prep School and to St Olave’s entrance exam if you have not been toSt Peter’s before (at age of 13 and/or 16) fees: day pupils  ₤ 11,500 a year including lunch boarders ₤ 19,500 a year St Peter‘s School

  15. St Peter‘s School • An average teacher’s day • 8.30 am: arrival at school, go to your room • 9.00 am: school starts • Monday/Wednesday/Friday there is a service in the Chapel before the school starts • Tuesday/Thursday you meet with your tutor group and discuss class matters

  16. St Peter‘s School • An average teacher’s day • Regularly eight lessons a day, one lasts about 40 minutes • Until 3 or 4 pm • Wednesday and Saturday afternoon Sports (every teacher has to do that, you could choose one special area) after 3 pm

St Peter‘s School • An average teacher’s day • Lunch in school in a free lesson • Afternoon you could also get tea/sandwiches/ cakes… at school •  boarder students are to be entertained by their teachers over the weekend, although teachers do not like that idea; there would be not one single day off

  18. St Peter‘s School • An average teacher’s day • Longer holidays: 18 weeks per year • Summer break 8 weeks • Autumn 2 weeks • Easter 3.5 weeks • Christmas 3 weeks • Usually a teacher also works as a “corrector” for some extra money

St Peter‘s IMPRESSIONS • “Sports play a very important role for pupils and teachers.” • “The German lessons we visited were quite interesting for us but seemed a bit old-fashioned.” • “I felt a bit like visiting Hogwarts because of the castle-like old buildings, the different boarding houses and the vast area.”

You could choose between English and international meals.” • “Pupils told me they choose German as a subject because it is easier than French. But Spanish is favoured anyway.” • “The head of the German Department, the German assistant teacher and the two students who showed us around, were very nice and answered every question.” • Our thanks to everyone!!
