  2. Design Changes • Facebook are redesigning the layout • This will affect Fan Page that have custom landing pages • Or If you have an oversize photo for your profile, page or group • Changes will come into effect late January 2010

  3. Fan Pages • The canvas width of Fan pages will reduce from 720 pixels down to 520 pixels • This is to make Facebook more compatible with mobile devices

  4. Fan Pages • If you are thinking about designing you new Fan page consider waiting until the new sizes are implemented • If you have an existing Fan page with static FBML boxes your content might need to be updated so it displays correctly

  5. Photo Size Changes

  6. Maximum Photo Size • Profile images will be reduced from 200 x 600 down to 180 x 540 • Maximum Image sizes will be increased to 720 pixels from 604 Pixels

  9. A Facebook Retweet! • Facebook introduced aretweet function similar to Twitter • When you share a link it shows up as “Via” and a link back to the person is posted on your wall. • This is great news for those who produce quality content.

  11. Engagement • Status Updates showing up in the News Feed to all fans is no longer guaranteed. • The Status Update algorithm will be based mostly on how many “Thumbs Up” or “Comments” your Page gets • Its important if you have a new fan page to get users to engage.

Fan Page Status Updates • Its possible that all Status Updates will continue show up in the Live Feed • Your fans might be required to optin if they have more than 250 friends or connections. • This means they need to change their Live Feed Settings to receive your Status Updates in their Pages filter

  14. The Boxes Tab • The Boxes Tab will be removed • Facebook has said that all the content of the Boxes App will disappear • Applications will no longer be displayed all grouped together on your boxes Tab

  15. E-mail addresses of your Fans • You will soon be able to extract the email addresses of your Fans • This is only available if you have your own Facebook application as the function interacts with Facebooks API • You can still place an optin box on your Fan Page
