  1. Proportion and scale drawing • CCSS.Math.Content.6.RP.A.3 Use ratio and rate reasoning to solve real-world and mathematical problems, • Homework • Worksheet

  2. Warm up Give unit rates: • Cathy plants 60 daffodils in 30 min • A blue whale swims 193 km in 10 hr • A blue whale eats 8 tonnes of food in 2 days

  3. Proportion • A proportion is a name we give to a statement that two ratios are equal. It can be written in two ways: • a/b = c/d or a:b = c: d • When two ratios are equal then the cross products of the ratios are equal.

  4. Scale And Scale Drawing • Scale is a ratio that shows relationship between a length in a drawing and the actual object. Ratios are used to make a scale drawing.

  5. In a scale drawing or a scale model, all the dimensions of the actual object are reduced or enlarged proportionally. • A map is a scale drawing in which actual distance is reduced.

  6. Problem Solving • The towns of ABC and XYZ are on a map with a scale of 1 cm = 15 km.If the map distance between ABC and XYZ is 4.5 cm, what is the actual distance?
