Why Learning Communities? OLN is committed to • the brilliance of manyrather than the isolation ofthe few • supporting learning, sharing, risk-taking, innovating, analyzing, improving, collaborating – in authentic and vast ways -- in order to serve students better and serve even more • investingin you – the innovators -- because Ohio higher education needs you, needs us to work smarter so we all enjoy greater outcomes • exploring the immense potential of technology used well to enable limitless learning, expertise and proficiency OLN Learning Communities Initiative 2007-2008

A Small (and mighty) Group Gathered and sparked a statewide initiative that has already resulted in • 119 learning Communities (’02 – ’07) @ 44 institutions ($1.8m) • 1,250 members (’02-’06) and over 1,000 more involved • Data from ’04 -’05: 226 LC members impacted/taught 18,487 F2F and DL students and the creation of • 5 Regional Centers (last year supported 35 PLCs with 395 members) • This year Central RC is supporting you – and all 5 RCs are supporting 46 PLCs (21 Course reVisioning & 25 Innovation) OLN Learning Communities Initiative 2007-2008
