  1. Program Overview • Dietary guidelines encourage individuals to consume at least five servings of fruits and vegetables daily. • According to a recent study, only 20 to 30 percent of our population meets this goal. • Vitamin deficiencies can affect the optimal functioning of the eyes. • Douglas Laboratories, in conjunction with The Research Institute of Associates in Ophthalmology, has developed a line of nutritional support products that help supplement poor eating habits and may assist in supporting the proper maintenance of vision. A number of ingredients found in nutritional supplements have been clinically proven to support vision health. • To protect the body, these supplements have been designed specifically to encourage ocular health by providing beneficial ingredients proven by clinical research.

  2. Suite of Products Available A.R.M.D. Eye Support Formula – with and without Beta Ocu-Omega™ Sight Smart™ Dry Eye Support Packs – with and without a Multivitamin

  3. A.R.M.D. Eye Support - with & without Beta Compounds called antioxidants have many health benefits and have been clinically shown to help maintain eye health and certain antioxidants have been found to support macular health. A.R.M.D. Eye Support contains important antioxidant nutrients, such as vitamin C, vitamin E, taurine, N-acetyl-cysteine, lutein and zeaxanthin. These nutrients work together to help maintain the health of the macula and the overall well-being of the eye. A.R.M.D also contains important eye-supportive minerals including, zinc, copper, manganese and selenium. Choosing between A.R.M.D. Eye Support, which does not contain beta-carotene, and A.R.M.D. Eye Support Beta, which contains beta carotene, is an important decision, as research has shown that individuals who smoke may have increased health risks when supplementing with beta-carotene.

  4. Ocu-Omega™ Numerous studies indicate that omega-3 fatty acids, lutein and zeaxanthin may be especially important in preserving and maintaining healthy eyes, especially as we age. Ocu-Omega has been specially formulated to contain the same ingredients and amounts that are currently being studied in large-scale studies, such as the AREDS II trial. DHA is essential for brain and visual development and is vital throughout pregnancy to support fetal brain growth and formation of the retinal and visual cortex. Lutein and zeaxanthin are nutritionally important carotenoids that occur in selected, often brightly colored vegetables. Lutein and zeaxanthin are efficient quenchers of free radicals in the body, and research has shown that these important carotenoids are the predominant pigments found in the macula.

  5. Sight Smart™ Studies show that a high percentage of adults and children in North America and other developed countries eat less than the recommended dietary allowance for many of the essential nutrients. Adequate amounts and proper balance of these nutrients are needed not only for maintaining good health, but also for the dietary management and prevention of chronic diseases. Contains lutein, an important antioxidant nutrient that protects healthy cells from oxidative and free radical damage. Free radicals are unstable chemicals formed in the body during normal metabolism and from exposure to environmental sources, such as pollution and cigarette smoke. Contains vitamins A, C, D3, B6 and B12 along with beta-carotene and folic acid, which are clinically proven to help maintain healthy vision. Contains selenium for antioxidant defense.

  6. Dry Eye Support Packs - with & without a multivitamin Dry eye is a relatively common eye complaint that is experienced by as many as 10 million people in the United States. Since tears are composed of more than just water, and in fact contain proteins, mucus, salts and certain types of fat. All of these components work together to help lubricate and protect the eye. Research has shown that certain important fats called essential fatty acids found in certain plants and fish can play a role in helping to decrease the symptoms experienced with dry eye. Dry Eye Support Pack contains organic, cold pressed flax seed oil and ultra-refined, molecularly distilled fish oil. Flax seed oil is a source of alpha-linolenic acid, while fish oil provides the essential fatty acids EPA and DHA. Dry Eye Support Pack (+multivitamin) contains the same ingredients as the Dry Eye Support Pack with the addition of the Sight Smart™ multivitamin.
