Follow up from last meeting“TB Technical Assistance planning including GF in the African Region” Harare 31st Nov – 2nd Dec 2011 Recommendations: • Countries should work on developing annual TA plans for TB with regular quarterly Partner meetings to develop and monitor plans. • TBTEAM mechanism needs to have regular communication with national TBTEAM and Partners (monthly) to provide feedback from the website, exchange country progress and receive updates from Partners. • There is the need of a regular forum for sharing of new developments by partners through TBTEAM

Objectives of the meeting: • Review strengths and weaknesses of current strategic country plans including joint planning with partner. • Explore ways to improve on strategic plan development using a simulation exercise and using the WHO TB planning and budgeting tool. • Review the key components of quality strategic planning including joint planning between partners and NTP, and use country examples and theoretical exercises as the basis for learning from each other on practical ways to improve our existing plans. • To develop a strategic planning roadmap for each country. These will lay out the next steps to be followed at country level to enhance strategic plans. They will include identifying needs for TA in the development of the strategic plans.

  4. Meeting outputs: • Participants updated on the development of strategic plans and trained in critically appraising examples of strategic plans • Participants trained in a strategic plan development using a simulation exercise and by familiarization with the WHO TB planning and budgeting tool • Strategic planning roadmaps developed for each country.
