Reasons why a gate closure on D-1 is required: Reason 1 “To be compliant with Congestion Management Guidelines” • Congestion Management Guidelines state that a gate closure is required on Day D-1: • “Successive intra-day allocation of available transmission capacity shall take place on days D-1 and D” (section 4.3)

Reasons why a gate closure on D-1 is required: Reason 2“In order to reallocate capacity for Day D from 06:00 – 17:59* and beyond” • D-1 X am: Capacity allocated for D 06:00-05:59 Currently all capacity which is either not bought in explicit auction, not bid/offered, or bid/offered but not in market schedule, is lost. • D-1 *X pm: Capacity re- allocated for D 06:00-05:59 All capacity which is either not bought in explicit auction, not bid/offered at D-1 X am market run, or bid/offered but not in D-1 X am market schedule can now be reallocated. • D am: Capacity re- allocated for D e.g. 18:00*-05:59 All capacity which is either not bought in explicit auction, not bid/offered, or bid/offered but not in market schedule can be reallocated. However only capacity available from 18:00*-05:59 can be reallocated. Therefore the additional D-1 gate closure is still required to reallocate capacity from 06:00-17:59* on D. * Exact time TBC by working group 05:59 06:00 05:59 06:00 05:59 18:00
