  1. Signs of the Times 77 What the Bible says about the End Times

  2. In the days ahead, we need to press into Jesus more than ever.We should be able to declare:I remember the days of old; I meditate on all Your works; I muse on the work of Your hands, I spread out my hands to You; my soul longs for You like a thirsty land. --Psalm 143:5-6We need to prepare for rain – a dualistic storm is coming…Revival for the remnantFalling away from Truth for the compromisedTrials for all…

  3. The signs all around usPeter’s first message to the Church was based on Joel:Act 2:17 'AND IT SHALL BE IN THE LAST DAYS,' God says, 'THAT I WILL POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT ON ALL MANKIND; AND YOUR SONS AND YOUR DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHESY, AND YOUR YOUNG MEN SHALL SEE VISIONS, AND YOUR OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS; Act 2:18 EVEN ON MY BONDSLAVES, BOTH MEN AND WOMEN, I WILL IN THOSE DAYS POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT And they shall prophesy. Act 2:19 'AND I WILL GRANT WONDERS IN THE SKY ABOVE AND SIGNS ON THE EARTH BELOW, BLOOD, AND FIRE, AND VAPOR OF SMOKE.

  4. Signs in the sky and the earth below…Climate changeMass unexplained death of wildlifeEarthquakes in various placesA noticeable change that gets everyone's attention

  5. Even in times of trouble, God always provides a way of escape:1Co 10:13 No temptation(pirasmos in Greek – trial, test) has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

  6. The Apostles asked Jesus what would be the signs of His coming and the end of the age..Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered and said to them, "See to it that no one misleads you. Mat 24:5 "For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will mislead many. Mat 24:6 "You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. Mat 24:7 "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. Mat 24:8 "But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs. Mat 24:9 "Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name.

  7. But it’s not over yet – we still have much to do…Mat 24:10 "At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another. Mat 24:11 "Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. Mat 24:12 "Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold. Mat 24:13 "But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. Mat 24:14 "This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come. And there are many events that still need to take place…And some that have taken place in the past 150 years that proove we are living in the last days.Join me on a journey into the Signs of the times…

  8. Mankind has always wondered about what the future holds…Wouldn’t it great if there was a book that told us?

  9. The fact of the matter is this; we have such a book. It’s called the Bible. God has given us specific major events that would occur throughout history, and most have come to pass exactly as the prophets in the Old and New testaments have foretold. Even more intriguing are the prophecies that tell us what will happen next. These are grouped together as ‘End time’ prophecies

  10. (Amos 3:7) “Surely the Lord GOD does nothing unless He reveals His secret counsel To His servants the prophets.”Isaiah 46:9-10 "Remember the former things long past, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me, (10) Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, 'My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure'”

  11. Why study prophecy? It gives us hope for the future. It helps us to keep our eyes fixed on the prize. It is a noble pursuit to search the scriptures!Proverbs 25:2 “It is the glory of God to conceal things, but the glory of kings is to search things out.” ESV God has given us the tools to understand end time prophecy. What a glorious pursuit to dig into this revealed truth and remove the veil of ignorance and misunderstanding! • Act 17:11 Now these(the Bereans) were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.

  12. 1Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”Ultimately we study prophecy to increase our faith and make our foundation sure. As Paul wrote in his letter to the Church at Ephesus:Ephesians 2:19 “So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone”

  13. Why study prophecy? That is the question many Bible teachers, Pastors, and academicians are asking. Their answer? "There is no need to waste your time studying prophecy. Let's just focus on the essentials of the faith." Did we not just read that our faith is built upon the foundation of the Apostles AND the prophets? This is essential!

  14. We are about to embark on a wonderful journey, one that will carry us from the Roman invasion of Jerusalem in 70 AD, to our current situation and beyond to the final judgment and eternity. What does the future hold? Can we know for certain? We are about to answer those questions and many, many more.

  15. Are we living in the ‘Last Days’?2Pe 3:1 This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, 2Pe 3:2 that you should remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles. 2Pe 3:3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lustsWe must begin our Journey by remembering the words of the prophets with a look at Daniel’s prophecy about the first coming of Jesus…

  16. Daniel 9 • 25 “So you are to know and discern that from the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’

  17. Daniel 9 From the issuing of a decree to rebuild Jerusalem Until the Messiah will be... 476 years 7 sevens and 62 sevens 7 X 7 = 49 62 X 7 = 434 • 49 + 434 = 483 years • = 476 solar years

  18. Daniel 9 Nehemiah 2:1ff In the month of Nisan in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was brought for him, ...the king asked me, “Why does your face look so sad?” I answered, “Why should my face not look sad when the city where my fathers are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?” The king said to me, "What is it you want?" "If it pleases the king, may I have letters to the governors of Trans-Euphrates, so that they will provide me safe-conduct until I arrive in Judah?” ...the king granted my requests. From the issuing of a decree to rebuild Jerusalem Until the Messiah will be... 476 years 7 sevens and 62 sevens 7 X 7 = 49 62 X 7 = 483 7 + 483 = 490 years = 476 years

  19. Daniel 9 From the issuing of a decree to rebuild Jerusalem Until the Messiah will be... 476 years 7 sevens and 62 sevens Dating the Decree to rebuild Jerusalem: Nehemiah 2:1-8 Artaxerxes I started reign in 465 BC 7 X 7 = 49 62 X 7 = 483 7 + 483 = 490 years = 476 years

  23. Daniel predicted the very time Jesus would come!He also foretold that Jesus would be cut off or die at His first coming!

  24. Dan 9:26 "Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined.Daniel also foretold the destruction of Jerusalem after Jesus would be cut off! More that just destroying Jerusalem, they would destroy the temple

  25. 70ADWe know that Romans are the ‘people of the prince who is to come’ from the other passages in Daniel foretelling the four great world empires from Babylon to Rome! Romans destroyed the Temple in 70AD – exactly as foretold! • Do we have proof Israel ever existed in Jerusalem and their temple was there? • Do we have proof the Roman’s destroyed it?

  26. In 70 AD, the Roman Army, under Titus, destroys Jerusalem and the Temple, to suppress an uprising of the Jews. According to the historian Josephus, about 1.1 million Jews were killed. Others were taken as slaves.

  27. Our Lord told the Jews that the temple would be destroyed, and the prophets warned them that if they did not keep the covenant of God, they would be dispersed from the land and given into the hands of the Gentiles. Mat 24:1 Jesus came out from the temple and was going away when His disciples came up to point out the temple buildings to Him. Mat 24:2 And He said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, not one stone here will be left upon another, which will not be torn down." • The temple was filled with treasure and gold overlay. • The Romans took it apart to get the gold

  28. Historical proof - Arch of Titus - RomeLocated at the highest point of the Via Sacra which leads to the Roman Forum, this triumphal arch, with only one passageway, commemorates Titus' conquest of Judea and destruction of the Temple, which ended the Jewish Wars (66-70AD).

  29. This began the great dispora – the dispersion of Jews across the face of the earth, as prophesied in scripture! Deu 4:27 "The LORD will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number among the nations where the LORD drives you. Deu 4:28 "There you will serve gods, the work of man's hands, wood and stone, which neither see nor hear nor eat nor smell. Deu 4:29 "But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul. Deu 4:30 "When you are in distress and all these things have come upon you, in the latter days you will return to the LORD your God and listen to His voice.

  30. Deuteronomy 31:16-17   And the Lord said to Moses: “You are going to rest with your fathers, and these people will soon prostitute themselves to the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They will forsake me and break the covenant I made with them. On that day I will become angry with them and forsake them; I will hide my face from them, and they will be destroyed. Many disasters and difficulties will come upon them, and on that day they will ask, ‘Have not these disasters come upon us because our God is not with us?’ Why has Israel experienced so much hardship?

  31. This hardship of prophetic significance began to truly take place in 70 AD when Roman soldiers conquered Jerusalem and destroyed the temple!

  32. 135 ADIn 135 AD, the Romans, under Hadrian, kill an estimated 580,000 Jews to suppress the Bar Kochva uprising. The Romans ran a plow over Jerusalem to completely destroy the Holy City. The Romans ban the Jews from living in Jerusalem.

  33. Jerusalem would be destroyed and “plowed like a field”Written: sometime between 750-686 BCFulfilled: 135 AD Micah 3:11-12   Her leaders judge for a bribe, her priests teach for a price, and her prophets tell fortunes for money. Yet they lean upon the Lord and say, “Is not the Lord among us? No disaster will come upon us.” Therefore because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble, the temple hill a mound overgrown with thickets.

  34. According to a text in the Gemara - a collection of ancient Jewish writings - the Romans ran a plow over Zion on the 9th day of the Jewish month of Ab. The Gemara said that Turnus Rufus, a Roman officer, plowed the area of the Temple. This prophecy was fulfilled in literal detail. Incidentally, there was a Roman coin minted during that era that shows an image of Hadrian on one side and, on the other side, an image of a man riding a plow. The coin was intended to commemorate the founding of their pagan Roman city on the site of Jerusalem.

  35. . Israel would become a wastelandWritten: Many prophets foretold this – Deut. perhaps 1400 BCFulfilled: 135-1800s   In Deuteronomy 29:23, the Bible said Israel would become a wasteland. This prophecy certainly was fulfilled. The land has been described many times as having been a wasteland. Mark Twain wrote this, in 1867, about the land of Israel, which at the time was called Palestine: “Palestine sits in sackcloth and ashes… the spell of a curse that has withered its fields and fettered its energies… Palestine is desolate and unlovely… It is a hopeless, dreary, heartbroken land.” - from Mark Twain’s Innocents Abroad.

  36. However, it is also prophesied that Israel would return to the land and be preserved in their dispersion!Zechariah 8:13   As you have been an object of cursing among the nations, O Judah and Israel, so will I save you, and you will be a blessing. Do not be afraid, but let your hands be strong.”

  37. The Jews would be persecuted, but preservedBible passage: Zechariah 8:13Written: between 520 and 518 BCFulfilled: 135 to today   In Zechariah 8:13, the prophet said that although the Jews would be scorned and hated throughout the world, God would preserve them. The Jews have been subject to hatred in many, if not all, of the countries in which they have lived throughout the world. Even today in the United States people sometimes vandalize Jewish synagogues and slander the Jews.

  38. Lev 26:32 'I will make the land desolate so that your enemies who settle in it will be appalled over it. Lev 26:33 'You, however, I will scatter among the nations and will draw out a sword after you, as your land becomes desolate and your cities become waste. "But it shall come about, if you do not obey the LORD your God...the LORD will scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to the other end of the earth" Deut. 28:15, 64 NASB

  39. Eze 36:5 therefore thus says the Lord GOD, "Surely in the fire of My jealousy I have spoken against the rest of the nations, and against all Edom, who appropriated My land for themselves as a possession with wholehearted joy and with scorn of soul, to drive it out for a prey." Eze 36:6 'Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel and say to the mountains and to the hills, to the ravines and to the valleys, "Thus says the Lord GOD, 'Behold, I have spoken in My jealousy and in My wrath because you have endured the insults of the nations.' • Palestinians are actually Jordanians or Edomites! • But we remember God’s promise to Israel – against all odds…

  40. “To your descendants I will give this land,” • “. . . for all the land which you see, I will give it to you and to your descendants forever.” Genesis 12 and 13

  41. 1917 The British gain control of Palestine (Israel)The Balfour Declaration, November 2, 1917U.S. Congress EndorsesThe Balfour Declaration(September 21, 1922)

  42. Draft: Declaration:

  43. ””...the LORD will...assemble the dispersed of Israel, and gather together the scattered of Judah from the four corners of the earth.”Isaiah 11:11-12

  44. (Isaiah 11:12) And He will lift up a standard for the nations And assemble the banished ones of Israel, And will gather the dispersed of Judah From the four corners of the earth.

  45. (Jeremiah 31:10) Hear the word of the LORD, O nations, And declare in the coastlands afar off, And say, “He who scattered Israel will gather him And keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock.”

  46. (Ezekiel 11:17) “Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD, “I will gather you from the peoples and assemble you out of the countries among which you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.”’

  47. (Ezekiel 37:21) “Say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD, “Behold, I will take the sons of Israel from among the nations where they have gone, and I will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land;

  48. Nazi Germany and the HolocaustOn November 7, 1938, Jewish minor Herschel Grünspan assassinated Nazi German diplomat Ernst vom Rath in Paris.[82] This incident was used by the Nazis to initiate the transition from legal repression to large-scale outright violence against Jewish Germans.

  49. Deu 28:33 "A people whom you do not know shall eat up the produce of your ground and all your labors, and you will never be anything but oppressed and crushed continually. Deu 28:34 "You shall be driven mad by the sight of what you see. Deu 28:37 "You shall become a horror, a proverb, and a taunt among all the people where the LORD drives you.
